Professional Bio

Anna’s practice focuses on criminal defense and legal and professional ethics.  She draws on her background as a federal district court clerk and an assistant attorney general to advocate for clients in a broad range of matters.

Anna has represented individuals and corporations in criminal and administrative matters, from the investigation stage through formal proceedings.  As an advocate for licensed professionals, Anna has counseled and represented individuals, including lawyers and judges, in professional responsibility and ethics matters ranging from initial applications for licensing to disciplinary proceedings.  She also has deep civil litigation experience, from the initial phases of a case, through discovery, motion practice, and trial.

Prior to joining Mitchell Stein Carey, Anna was a litigation associate at Osborn Maledon, P.A.  She also practiced in the Licensing and Enforcement section of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, where she advised professional licensing boards, including the Arizona Board of Nursing, Arizona Veterinary Medical Examining Board, and Arizona Board of Nursing Care Institution Administrators and Assisted Living Facility Managers. As an Assistant Attorney General, Anna also represented the state in disciplinary proceedings before the Office of Administrative Hearings and various professional licensing boards. Anna served as a law clerk for the Honorable Susan R. Bolton of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona for four years.

At Stanford Law School, she served as President of the Public Interest Law Students Association and represented clients through Stanford’s Immigrants’ Rights Clinic in a range of cases.

Representative Cases
  • Represented multiple individuals charged with unlawful operation of taxicabs in criminal and administrative proceedings, obtaining dismissals in each case.
  • Represented numerous attorneys in responding to bar charges before the State Bar of Arizona, in both informal and formal proceedings.
  • Obtained admission to the state bar for clients following character and fitness hearings.
  • Part of team representing key witness in Mine Health and Safety investigation.
